About Fundamentals of Learning

Instruction is based upon learning, and differentiated instruction is based upon the differences in learning in each student. We can't understand effective differentiated instructional approaches without understanding the learning process and how much it can differ among students in a normal classroom. Much has been discovered in the last forty yaers about how the brain learns, Sadly, most of this knowledge has yet to be learned by teachers and administrators in the average curriculum-driven school. Success in differentiating instruction may depend upon a rethinking or relearning of some of these fundamentals of learning.
